Another fighter of the January Uprising among the saints, Adam Chmielowski (1845–1916) was also a talented painter. He painted, among others, the famous image of Christ, Ecce Homo, that is on display in the Church of Albertine Sisters in Krakow. The founder of the Orders of Albertine Brothers and Albertine Sisters, Brother Albert gained renown as the caretaker of the Krakow beggars and homeless. Canonized by Pope John Paul II, he is remembered on June 17.
